On 6th March representatives of the Directorate for Standards, Metrology and Quality (STAMEQ) accompanied Dr. Indra Pradana Singawinata, Secretary General of the Asian Productivity Organization (APO) and delegation of APO visited and worked at the headquarters of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (HCYU) Central Committee.

Comrade Nguyen Tuong Lam, Secretary of HCYU Central Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the National Committee on Youth of Vietnam said that young people are vulnerable in the labour market in Viet Nam. They account for 35% of the total number of workers, so raising awareness about the productivity of the young workforce is extremely important.

Comrade Nguyen Tuong Lam expressed his expectation that APO will have programs to coordinate and support the HCYU Central Committee in implementing its tasks in productivity after the meeting. At the same time, it contributes to strengthening both sides’ understanding of the two organizations’ activities, programs, and key plans, opening up an effective cooperative relationship between the HCYU Central Committee and APO, and promoting the implementation of the productivity movement for union members and youth in Viet Nam.

At the meeting, Dr. Indra Pradana Singawinata hoped that today’s meeting would be a good premise for coordination and cooperation in upcoming programs.

Within the meeting’s framework, Comrade Nguyen Tuong Lam Participate said that HCYU Central Committee will be effective and responsible in raising awareness for youth to enhance productivity and requested that APO and STAMEQ pay attention to Vietnamese youth. Young people are the main target group for concentrating on training human resources to deploy youth union activities and youth movements associated with performing professional work; improving labour productivity through enhancing exchange work, sharing experiences, and organising training courses for union members and Vietnamese youth in various fields, especially based on the application of science, technology, and innovation.
