The 81th IEC General Meeting

The 81st IEC general meeting took place in Vladivostok, Russia from October 9th to 13rd, 2017. Viet Nam’s delegation led by Mr Tran Van Vinh – Director General of the Directorate for Standards and Quality, with members including representatives from Department of STAMEQ and the relevant ministries.

The meeting brought together the delegates from more than 100 member states, directed by Mr. Jame M. Shanon, IEC President. The IEC General Meeting 2016 focused on discussing major issues: IEC standardization orientation in the period 2017-2020, development of IEC standards on network information security, digitization, robotics , intelligent manufacturing, intelligent building, electromagnetic compatibility, energy efficiency, equipments used in explosive environments, development of training network of young professionals IEC

The meeting also reviewed and approved the recent work reports of commissions on marketing strategies, conformity assessment, and cooperation activities between IEC and international and regional standards organizations as ISO, ITU, CENELEC, IEEE, CIE, ETSI …

On the sidelines of the meeting, General Director Tran Van Vinh also had a meeting Mr. Alexey Abramov, President of Federal Agency on Technical Regulation and Metrology (Rosstandart) to discuss the orientation promoting cooperation between STAMEQ with Rosstandart in the coming time.
