STAMEQ to promote Halal cooperation with Malaysia

His Excellency Dato’ Tan Yang Thai, Malaysian Ambassador to Viet Nam paid a visit to the Directorate of Standards, Metrology and Quality (STAMEQ) on 30 October 2023 for a discussion on the potential collaboration between Viet Nam and Malaysia in the field of Halal certification.
Dr. Ha Minh Hiep, STAMEQ Acting Director General along with the directors and officials in charge of related department in STAMEQ joined the meeting with H.E. Ambassador and the diplomatic officers in the Embassy of Malaysia in Viet Nam.
STAMEQ Acting Director received H.E. Malaysian Ambassador to Viet Nam on 30 October 2023.
Upon listening to the STAMEQ’s plan to develop Halal quality infrastructure with the aim to supporting the growth of Halal industry in Viet Nam, H.E. Ambassador Tan Yang Thai extended his congratulations on the efforts of the STAMEQ for having defined a clear roadmap to promote the domestic Halal industry, which includes the establishment of a national Halal certification center, implementation of awareness-raising activities about Halal standardization, completion of Viet Nam’s Halal standards system and enhancement of international cooperation with reputable Halal certification authorities in the world.
Recalling the commitment to support Viet Nam to develop Halal market of H.E. Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim during his official visit to Viet Nam in July 2023, H.E. Ambassador highlighted that the Embassy of Malaysia in Viet Nam was ready to assist the STAMEQ in the communication with related agencies in Malaysia namely the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) and Halal Development Cooperation (HDC) to set up a cooperation framework in the area of Halal certification./.
