42nd Meeting of the ACCSQ/WG2 Working Group on Conformity Assessment

The annual Meeting of the ACCSQ/WG2 Working Group on Conformity Assessment under the ASEAN Commission on Standards and Quality (ACCSQ/WG2) took place from May 13th to May 14th, 2024 in Bangkok, Thailand.
The Meeting was attended by delegates from 10 ASEAN Member States, delegates from Timor Leste as the observers, key experts from the the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB) Germany and the ASEAN Secretariat.
The Meeting has been continuously striving to promote to harmonize regulations and practices among Member States to expand business opportunities by developing of the ASEAN Guidelines on Accreditation and Conformity Assessment, enhancing the capacity for accreditation and conformity assessment in ASEAN, thereby improving infrastructure quality, harmonizing infrastructure in ASEAN, and facilitating free trade among ASEAN Member State.
During the Meeting, The Parties discussed the establishment of a list and the provision of information on accreditation assessors from ASEAN Member States, updated the progress of National Accreditation Focal Points (NAFPs) and establishment of National Accreditation Body (NAB) from Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Lao PDR and Myanmar; updated on the recent developments on economic integration initiatives in ASEAN and the implementation of conformity assessment strategies and related technical infrastructure to support AEC. Additionally, the Meeting also focused on reviewing and discussing the accreditation and conformity assessment systems in ASEAN as well as promoting the acceptance of test reports, especially emphasized on the implementation of ISO 37001 for Anti-Bribery Management Systems.
The 42nd Meeting of the ACCSQ/WG2 Working Group on Conformity Assessment in Bangkok, Thailand concluded successfully. The 43rd ACCSQ/WG2 Working Group Meeting is scheduled to be held in Singapore in May 2025.
